5 Private Twitter Lists You Must Make Now - Social Selling Daily Tip #009

Audio Transcript:

Here’s your social selling tip of the day for February 12, 2020. I’m Greg Hyer of Linking into Sales.

Twitter, the microblogging service used by millions to get people’s attention, is one of the most important social networks for social sellers to be a part of and engage on. Why? Because B2B buyers use it to research solutions to problems they’re facing. Remember, it’s the buyer’s journey. Twitter is a path the buyer is on. You need to be on the same path as your buyer.

One very helpful feature that Twitter offers are Lists. Lists are a way to filter and organize other Twitter users to see what only they are publicly tweeting. You can create public lists that are can be viewed by anyone and you can create private lists that are only viewable to you. For now, let’s focus on private lists. Here are five private Twitter lists you need to make right now:

  1. Your Competitors - When it comes to having commercial insight, you have got to know what the competition is saying and how they are engaging with their customers and prospective buyers.
  2. Your Industry Influencers - Their insights and thought leadership can help you consider perspectives that may be helpful when talking with prospects and customers.
  3. Your Co-Workers - Seriously. Put them on a private list so you can see how they are engaging with their prospects or curating content. You will likely find something to share with a prospect.
  4. Your Prospects - As you find them on LinkedIn, check for their Twitter profile. If they have one, add them to your private list that way you can find their account and what they have been tweeting faster if they call you asking for assistance. And by all means, create a list for each opportunity stage your prospect is at.
  5. Your Customers - Once they have become a customer, it’s time to move off the prospect list. Adding your customers to a private Twitter list will help you keep up with them and possibly listen for bumps they may hit as the are on boarded.

Here are a few things to keep in mind when you’re creating lists.

  • You can create up to 1000 lists
  • You can add up to 5000 users per list
  • List names cannot exceed 25 characters
  • List names cannot begin with a numerical character

That does it for this social selling tip of the day. In addition to this daily tip, check out the Social Selling Podcast by Linking into Sales on iTunes, Google Play Music, Stitcher, YouTube and Tunein. You can even ask Alexa to play the Social Selling Podcast by Linking into Sales.
